Being Elmo
Awesome biography of Kevin Clash, puppeteer, that also serves as a decent history of the Muppets as seen through his eyes. The parts where he walks someone through a few puppeteering tips are magical. Watch this if you’re a cartoonist or even if you’re not.

New Comics
I have two new comics out this month.
The first is Papercutter #15, for which I did the cover and a 17-page story, entitled “The Most Gripping Mind-Exploding Triumphantly Electric of Our Time.” It’s actually two stories in one, one science fiction, one mythological, nested one inside the other. Published by Tugboat Press and available from Buy Olympia.
I also have a...

Interview: Minty Lewis
vegansaurus:
Melanie “Minty” Lewis’ wonderful new book, P.S. Comics, is a collection of her minicomics to date. Minty’s tales of “Fruit Pals” and “Yorkie Roommates” are cute but heartbreaking accounts of everyday melodrama, which earned her an Ignatz award in 2007. She also recently created the most freaking cutest ever iGoogle theme, which you should all install immediately. Minty lives in...

vegansaurus:
As we mentioned in last week’s link-o-rama, we love us some Ezra Klein. It is so important for “thinkers” to understand the impact that meat (and dairy and eggs) have on the health of our planet and ourselves and to TALK ABOUT IT. I love this article for so many reasons, from him acknowledging that veganism is the best thing you can do to the calling out of the...

Where Can I Get One?
You can sometimes find professionally made flamethrowers being sold by private buyers online, some for as little as $300. Also, if you’re unsure on how to use your new device, but you want the source of your advice to be batshit insane, you could pick up Ragnar Benson’s delightful read, Breath Of The Dragon: Homebuilt Flamethrowers, which we can only hope comes with a cellphone with...

Exhibit A: On a TV show this girl was talking about a boy at her school and she called him a “geep.” Her mom like, what’s a geep? “A geek who’s kind of creepy.” Awesome!
Exhibit B: Another person on TV said she was “smad” as in sad and mad… Awesome!

MCCAIN: Hilary, we've been over this.
HILARY: No, dude. I am so sick of being the girlfriend healer. Seriously, I can't even use a sword. Fuck this noise.
KUCINICH: IM A BARD
OBAMA: That's nice.
KUCINICH: MY FAMILIAR IS A PURPLE SNOW LEOPARD
MCCAIN: Oh, Jesus. Here we go.
KUCINICH: DID I MENTION MY WIFE IS A TOTALLY BANGIN DRYAD WITH 20 CHARISMA
HILARY: C'mon you guys, I've been playing this shit since Gygax was in eighth grade. Why can't I be the party leader with the magic sword for once?
MCCAIN: Because no one wants to see you in a bronze bra.
OBAMA: Oh dude, BURRRRRNNNN.

Hugh Hewitt's "How Sarah Palin Won the Election... →
“The idea was to tell the story behind the effect that Sarah Palin has had on this election and how it is and why it is that she has basically turned the election around for McCain and why it is that she is resonating with so many people in the country,” he said. “The intent was to finish the book by a week after the election, and to have it out before the inauguration.”
